About this course
The ANCEPTA golf links / Ancom golf links course is an absolutely unique course. A true links style course this is located at the Army base at Birchgunj & is located along the Andaman sea.The course was first established in 1985-86 as the “Amphibian Golf Course” and consisted only of browns with sea sand & had crisscrossing fairways.
The golf course was then revived in Jan – Mar 2000 as a 9 Hole course with one brown and six greens (two repeats).
In 2004/2005 post the Tsunami, a 18 hole course was built in true links style & with sparse trees, deep bunkers & the sea breeze to tame its a extremely scenic & pretty course thanks to the location. With the Andaman sea running along one side & thick wooded areas on the other its a sight to behold.
The course was earlier a grazing ground, during the world war a Japanese military base & now part of the Indian army station. The greens have Tiffdwarf grass supposedly imported from Bengaluru, a sprinkler system is in place, drainage for most of the part is natural. Greens are large & they need to be like typical links courses & they sport 2 pin positions each.
